A question.

How much credit do the inventors/coders of photoshop deserve towards the creativity that went into my nicely shopped piece of art?

Really great article. I'm writing a paper about the impact technology is having on creativity and this is going to be a massive help. Thanks

The trap that people fall into when trying to escape technology is to lean to the other extreme and subscribe to the Luddite viewpoint. That, I would say, is a big danger.

I think the goal should be to concentrate on the opportunities and exploit them while driving down the distractions. The information overload that people complain about can easily be overcome with a little bit of self restrain. For example, if the case of writing that you bring out in this article, one could easily have disconnected from the network, taken the laptop to the comfortable chair and typed on it. Sure you do not get the nostalgic feel of the pen meeting the paper, but you are using the power of technology to help you - its ability to let you copy, paste, cut etc. easily.

I guess we must know how and when NOT TO use technology as much as how and when TO use technology. The prime reason for this confusion is the high pace at which technology is changing today. It has never been this fast as it is today.
